Volunteer with other business professionals on the first day of summer!
Each June, communities around the world come together to harness the volunteer spirit and improve the conditions in which they live. This year, on the longest day of the year & the 1st day of summer, United Way of Gloucester County & the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce partner to organize the Day of Action.
You are invited to join thousands people and organizations around the world to LIVE UNITED and take action to address a variety of challenges by volunteering to improve the building blocks for a good quality of life – education, financial stability, and health.

Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey’s Camp Sacajawea – Newfield
The Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey (GSCSNJ) needs help painting Camp Sacajawea in Newfield. The GSCSNJ strives to empower campers as they learn and practice creative thinking, leadership and decision-making skills.
Project Duration: 3-4 hours
SHADOW Equestrian – Monroeville
Volunteers over the age of 18 are needed to paint fences that are used for therapeutic riding lessons for special needs riders.
Project Duration: 5 hours
Robins’ Nest - Newfield
Robins’ Nest needs help assembling care packages for older adults throughout their programming. Robins’ Nest’s Older Adult Services Program is a unique program for citizens 60 years of age or older, offering in-home and office-based counseling and support. Volunteers will assembly care packages consisting of: slippers, hand warmers, puzzles, night lights, medication organizers, and more. Robins’ Nest is headquartered in Glassboro, but this project will be conducted at the Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey’s Camp Sacajawea.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Gloucester County – Paulsboro
Volunteers are needed to paint the Boys and Girls Clubs’ location in Paulsboro to beautify the center. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Gloucester County provide a safe place for children to learn and play after school and during the summer.
Project Duration: 4 hours
Boys and Girls Clubs of Gloucester County – Glassboro (PROJECT FILLED - Thank You!)
Volunteers are needed to paint the Boys and Girls Clubs’ location in Glassboro to beautify the center. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Gloucester County provide a safe place for children to learn and play after school and during the summer.
Project Duration: 4 hours
Eleanor Corbett House (Volunteers of America Delaware Valley) - Glassboro
Volunteers are needed to assist with yard cleanup, playground maintenance, and painting the living area. Clients use these spaces daily, and the enhancements will help improve the living standards of the space and facility.
Project Duration: 5 hours
Center for Family Services' Together Youth Shelter - Glassboro
Do you have a green thumb? Center for Family Services can use your skills to weed, till, and plant vegetable starts in the vegetable garden at Together Youth Shelter, which is one of the only short-term, walk-in shelters in South Jersey, providing 24-hour emergency shelter for runaway, homeless, and/or neglected youth age 9-18.
Project Duration: 2-3 hours
Arc Gloucester’s Camp Sun N Fun – Williamstown
Volunteers are needed to set up the sensory garden at the Arc Gloucester’s Camp Sun N Fun. The camp offers children and adults with developmental disabilities an opportunity to participate in and enjoy summer recreational activities.
Project Duration: 2 hours
Arc Gloucester’s Camp Sun N Fun – Williamstown
Volunteers are needed to weed the pool gardens at the Arc Gloucester’s Camp Sun N Fun. The camp offers children and adults with developmental disabilities an opportunity to participate in and enjoy summer recreational activities.
Project Duration: 2 hours
HollyDELL – Sewell (PROJECT FILLED - Thank You!)
Volunteers are asked to help prep and paint wooden ramps on HollyDELL School’s playground. The ramps make the playground more accessible to children with cerebral palsy and other physical and medical challenges.
Project Duration: 3-4 hours
STEP 1
Check your availability. Morning projects will begin at 9:00 am after check-in & breakfast starting at 7:30 am. Afternoon projects begin at 1:30 pm after check-in & lunch starting at noon. You can schedule to participate for a morning & an afternoon project, or decide to participate for only morning or afternoon.

Choose your project. Whether you decide to choose a project based on agency or because you'll enjoy the type of project activity, thank you for committing your time to support our community!
STEP 3
Prepare for your project!
- Come dressed in comfortable clothing appropriate for your project. (Closed-toed shoes for outdoor projects).
- Don't for get to bring a hat or sunscreen for outdoor projects. Water will be available at each location for all volunteers.
- Bring your business cards! During check-in, and while enjoying breakfast/lunch, this will be a great time to network with other volunteers and representatives from the agencies you are assisting.
