Volunteer with other South Jersey Professionals!
Each June, communities around the world come together to harness the volunteer spirit and improve the conditions in which they live. This year, United Way of Gloucester County & the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce partner to organize the Day of Action!

Drop-off address: United Way of Gloucester County - 454 Crown Point Rd., Thorofare, NJ 08086
Time: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
REGISTRATION TIPS:
STEP 1
Check your availability. Projects will begin at 9:30 am after check-in & introductions at your selected project site.
STEP 2
Choose your project. Whether you decide to choose a project based on agency or because you'll enjoy the type of project activity, thank you for committing your time to support our community!
STEP 3
Prepare for your project! Come dressed in comfortable clothing appropriate for your project. (Closed-toed shoes for outdoor projects). Don't forget to bring a hat or sunscreen for outdoor projects.
Water will be available at each location for all volunteers. Bring your business cards! During check-in, and while enjoying lunch, this will be a great time to network with other volunteers and representatives from the agencies you are assisting.

PROJECTS
YMCA of the Pines - Gloucester County YMCA | Woodbury
Building beautification – pressure washing the outside of the building and deep cleaning the pool area.
Volunteers Needed: 4 - 5 (3 spots remain)
Project Length: 3 - 5 hours
Volunteer Requirements: garden gloves, small garden tools, Volunteers should wear clothes that can get dirty and be okay working outdoors in a wet environment.
FULL The Lighthouse Community Center | Pitman FULL
Sorting donations, culling merchandise, cleaning the shop.
Volunteers Needed: 5 - 10
Project Length: 3 - 5 hours

FULL Literacy NJ Gloucester County Program | Woodbury FULL
The volunteers will help us put together writing prompt packets for our existing and new students geared toward goal making and keeping. We will also have the volunteers help us put together folder and packets welcoming new tutors and students coming into the program. This helps our agency in a couple ways. Firstly, making writing prompt packets will help guide the students on writing about their goals and how they plan to work towards keeping them. Secondly, making welcome packets and folders for new comers helps have all the information they could need or want about the program and expectations.
Volunteers Needed: 2 - 3
Project Length: 1.5 - 2 hours
Volunteer Requirements: -
Food Bank of South Jersey | Pennsauken
Inspecting, sorting, and packing donated food for distribution to community agencies. This is an essential part of FBSJ's process to get food to people who need it. General building beautification projects including cleaning, painting, and grounds projects. Assisting the health and Wellness department in various tasks including: recipe testing and inventory projects.
Volunteers Needed: 40 (1 spot remains)
Project Length: 4 - 5 hours
Volunteer Requirements: Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes in all areas of the food bank.
FULL Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity | Pitman FULL
Prepping, repairing, and painting the exterior of our main office and ReStore building. Our building is over 50 years old and this project will improve curb appeal and increase our customer base, increasing revenue in the ReStore which directly supports our mission to provide safe, affordable housing opportunities to low-income homebuyers and homeowners in our communities.
Volunteers Needed: 6
Project Length: 4 - 5 hours
Volunteer Requirements: Tool belts, safety masks.
Wheels Of Change | West Deptford
Wheels of Change will use this time to redo our baby room, pantry room and children’s clothing room. We will also create bags that are used to give to the homeless community in Gloucester County.
Volunteers Needed: 5 (1 spot remains)
Project Length: 4 - 5 hours
Volunteer Requirements: -

Gardening - cut top soil out, weed barrier, mulch and plant shrubs/flowers.
Volunteers Needed: 6 - 8
Project Length: 4 hours
Volunteer Requirements: Gloves, round point and square point shovels, rakes.
FULL Partners in Learning, Inc. | Williamstown FULL
Our playground clean-up and planting project will help beautify the space and ready it for children who will be attending for the summer fun program as well as students who attend during our daycare weeks.
Volunteers Needed: 3 - 5
Project Length: 3 hours
Volunteer Requirements: Rakes, gloves, clippers, shovels.
Center For Family Services, Mother Child Residential | Woodbury
Paint fence in play area and improvement of front yard.
Volunteers Needed: 4 - 6 (4 spots remain)
Project Length: 3 hours
Volunteer Requirements: any paint supplies and gardening supplies.
