1166 FCU Donates Financial Education Tools to Special Needs Class

SWEDESBORO, NJ, February 21, 2025 - 1166 Federal Credit Union (1166 FCU) recently donated financial education workbooks to a Clearview Regional High School special needs class to advance its students’ financial literacy.

As Clearview special education teacher Kathleen Firkser sought financial education materials to equip her class for real-world money management scenarios, she reached out to 1166 FCU. “We’re committed to empowering the next generation with financial knowledge, especially in underserved communities, so we’re happy to provide financial education workbooks for Ms. Firsker’s students,” shared CEO Annemarie Shinn.

According to Frontiers in Education, “By leveraging a mix of traditional and innovative approaches, financial education programs can cater to diverse learning needs and preferences, ensuring that students not only learn financial concepts but also develop the skills and confidence to apply them in their lives.” The workbook provided, entitled “Making the Right Money Moves” by Cemark, Inc., walks learners through a seven-lesson course in financial skills. The program includes detailed lesson plans, online videos, interactive exercises, role-playing activities, and a final exam to help students develop lifelong money management skills. Some specific areas of focus include:

Budgeting and financial records

Saving and investing
