Executive Director Job Description
The Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce (GCCC) is seeking a committed and experienced leader to serve as our Executive Director of our organization.
The ideal candidate will serve as the trustworthy executive of the county’s premier business organization and will oversee all aspects of the organization’s operations. This candidate must possess a strategic and executive mindset, excellent communication skills and a strong desire to serve our growing business community and the mission of our Chamber as outlined in the 2025-2027 GCCC Strategic Plan.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic and Organizational Leadership:
Drive the success of the identified goals in the Chamber’s strategic plans. Lead the team and corresponding committees to achieve the one and three-year objectives identified in the strategic plan.
Collaborate with the Board of Directors in implementing strategic priorities, goals, and policies.
Prepare and guide the staff and committees towards the achievement of the goals and objectives as outlined in the strategic plan.
Community Engagement:
Build and cultivate strong partnerships with C-suite and community leaders, elected officials, leadership organizations, government agencies, and other key stakeholders to expand the Chamber’s influence in the region.
Build strong partnerships with our region’s community organizations, government agencies, key stakeholders and alliances.
Represent the organization at an array of events and conferences, advocating for the needs of the membership.
Foster a positive public image through effective communication and outreach strategies.
Continuing education on public policies and business trends of the region and to keep the Chamber well positioned to deliver its mission.
Business Development and Growth:
Identify and cultivate relationships with potential members, sponsors, and partners that advance the strength and influence of members and the business community throughout the region.
Lead the development and execution of revenue strategies and campaigns to secure necessary financial resources that sustain the organization’s health and mission.
Manage strategic partner activities to maintain strong relationships that maximize membership retention.
Operational Management:
Oversee the delivery of high-quality and well-attended events. Develop and promote value-adding programs and benefits for GCCC members.
Monitor all programs’ effectiveness through evaluation and other means and make or recommend necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
Develop the skills and capabilities of the Chamber staff in a way that helps them be efficient and effective in their roles and duties to serve membership.
Financial Management and Oversight:
Assist in the development of the Chamber’s budget. Manage that budget to ensure fiscal responsibility and accountability throughout the year.
Monitor financial performance, identifying areas for cost-efficiency and resource optimization. Must have a working knowledge of management reports such as P&L, Balance Sheet, and the budgeting process.
Work closely with the Board of Directors and GCCC’s CPA partner to ensure financial stability and compliance with reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
• 5+ years leading member-focused organizations, preferably in the non-profit sector
• Deep understanding of non-profit organization operations, including accounting, government, legal, and digital marketing
• Extensive Large Event Coordination and Management Experience
• Staff oversight and management experience
• Business Development Experience preferred, especially in respect to attracting new members, member retention, and sponsorship, and relationship building.
• Outstanding public speaking skills
